Biography: Bernard Hinault is a French road cyclist who over a lengthy career amassed 147 professional victories, including 5 in the Tour de France. He is regarded by many as one of the greatest cyclists of all time. Of the thirteen Grand Tours which Hinault entered, he won 10; only Eddy Merckx has won more with 11.
Hinault won his first two Grand Tours in 1978, winning both the Vuelta a España and the Tour de France.
