Disguised as The Bachelor for the male-seeking-male set, this short-lived summer dating show found protagonist James courting 15 suitors in hopes of finding his ideal “mate.” The twist—which was only revealed to James four episodes into a six-episode season—was that half of the contestants were straight guys hoping to win a cash prize by duping him into falling for them.

Brush Up on the Greek Myth That Arcade Fire Is Singing About

Arcade Fire is known for music and lyrics that make listeners think, drawing on deep ideas expressed in multiple languages. Their new album Reflektor, out today, is no exception. It’s already been getting lots of attention for its Haitian influences — but there’s another obvious source of inspiration that the band highlights on the album. Two songs, “Awful Sound (Oh Eurydice)” and “It’s Never Over (Oh Orpheus),” reference the Orpheus myth. The album’s cover art is a close-up of Auguste Rodin’s 1893 sculpture “Orpheus and Eurydice,” currently on view at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

Bryan Brown and Greta Scacchi to Headline New Series

“Darby and Joan”, a series starring Bryan Brown and Greta Scacchi, will premiere on Acorn TV next month. Acorn TV is billed as “Netflix for the Anglophile” – a subscription video streaming service offering programming from the U.K., Canada, Australia, New Zealand and other Commonwealth countries. Two episodes of the new series, “Darby and Joan” will premiere weekly on the service on Mondays from Aug. 8 to 29. The series follows retired Australian homicide detective Jack Darby (Brown), who has taken to the open road with his dog Diesel to flee his past.

Lockheed Martin, the largest arms seller, alone accounted for $36 billion in such sales during 2012.
