On May 15, an executive with the Sacramento Kings told 48 female contract employees on a conference call that the team would be “evolving” their dance squad, and the women’s contracts would end June 30.
The 48 women made up the official Kings Dancers, the elderly dance team The Classics, and the dance team for the G-League affiliate, the Stockton Kings. The Breakers, a break-dancing team made up of seven male dancers, were not on the call, nor were the co-ed entertainment teams: The Dunking Ushers, Drumline, 91Sticks, and the Sacramento Kings Street Team.
Nigerian celebrities at the event included Wizkid, Tems, Rema, Burna Boy, Adekunle Gold and Tobe Nwigwe.

Happiness is a worthy pursuit. But fixating too much on achieving it often leads to bad feelings when you fall short—which ultimately makes you less happy.
That’s the finding of a new study published in the journal Emotion. “Imagine someone going to a birthday party, and midway through the event they realize they are not as happy as they were expecting to be,” says lead author and social psychologist Felicia Zerwas, who was a doctoral student at the University of California-Berkeley when the research was conducted and is now a postdoctoral researcher at New York University.
The state chapter of the apex Igbo social-cultural organisation denounced the protest in a statement signed by its Publicity Secretary, Chief Anya Okorie on behalf of its leadership under Dr Peter Mbam. The chapter in the statement made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abakaliki, noted that it aligned with its national leadership’s stance of not identifying with the protest. “Our national leadership has appealed especially to Igbo youths not to participate in the protest as the tribe is always the scapegoat of such issues.

It’s a cold evening in February 2002, at a fancy dinner in New York City. In walks a drop-dead gorgeous thirtysomething. Senators, CEOs and others to whom deference does not come easily all rise to their feet. This is not just some successful businesswoman or famous actress. This is the Queen.
Queen Rania, the wife of Jordan’s King Abdullah, has described the challenge to her country as trying to reconcile tradition with modernity.
