December 18, 1778 — The greatest and most famous clown of them all, and by whose name, Joey, all circus clowns became known, was born on this day. In real life he was Joseph Grimaldi, a man of Italian-sounding origin who, in fact, was born in London. This first "Clown Joey", founding-father of modern-day clowns, later joked about his surname: "I am grim all day, but I make you laugh at night!
When French historian Pierre de Coubertin founded the International Olympic Committee (IOC), the governing body of the modern Olympic Games, in the late 19th century, he billed the competition as a peace movement that could bring the world together through sport. “Wars break out because nations misunderstand each other,” he said. Competition, the reasoning went, would foster greater understanding and reconciliation between adversarial countries.
More than a century later, Coubertin’s vision hasn’t exactly borne out.
Animation has had plenty of unknown geniuses — from the directors, artists and storymen of Walt Disney’s early features to the sly hands behind the silent pornographic cartoon Buried Treasure — but few were more obscure, or more important, than Alexander Anderson, who died Friday at 90 in Carmel, Calif. Anderson created the characters Rocky the flying squirrel, Bullwinkle Moose and Dudley Do-Right, and the vaudeville-style format, for the 1959 animated program Rocky and His Friends and its 1961 spin-off The Bullwinkle Show, known collectively as The Rocky and Bullwinkle Show.

In a new memo dated May 15 2018, and signed by Pastor J.F Adesola, Assistant General Overseer (Admin and Personnel), the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) shares an updated list of wedding guidelines.
